Alex Ferguson Confirms Rooney's Request to Move. Via b/r

Manchester United will already look different next season without its longtime manager, but there could be even more change if the most recognizable player also leaves town.
According to Sky Sports (via ESPN), Wayne Rooney has asked for a transfer off the club following the season:
Sir Alex Ferguson recently finished his final match at Old Trafford after announcing his retirement and came away with a 2-1 victory. However, Rooney was unused in the win and was not even available as a substitute.
In the previous match against Chelsea, the forward did not come on until the 69th minute.
Rooney has seen his role diminish greatly this season thanks mostly to the addition of striker Robin van Persie from Arsenal. After finishing second in the league with 27 goals a year ago, Rooney only totaled 12 this season.
Meanwhile, Van Persie currently leads the English Premier League and should finish on top for the second year in a row.
The addition of the Dutch forward and the increased number of assists from Rooney helped the squad easily win the EPL for the 13th time since Ferguson took over the club.
Still, it appears Rooney wants to try his luck with another club after being a part of Manchester United since 2004.
It is unknown which squads would attempt to bring in the talented player. However, considering Rooney is only 27 years old and one of the top offensive players in the sport, there is certain to be a strong market for the forward.

The Happy Di Matteo..!

Roberto Di Matteo watched his attacking stars inspire a 5-4 extra-time victory over Manchester United and he preferred to savour a second night of high-scoring league cup thrills rather than focus on "the other stuff" in football. The Chelsea manager did not need to spell out what he meant, in the wake of the league fixture against United on Sunday, when his team's controversial 3-2 home defeat was followed by the allegation that the referee Mark Clattenburg had racially abused Mikel John Obi. There had also been spite in the stands. Di Matteo focused on the flair and spirit that his team had shown here, when they came from behind three times to force the extra period, with the substitute Eden Hazard scoring from the penalty spot with the very last kick of normal time. Hazard's quick feet and sumptuous reverse pass created what proved to be the decisive fifth goal late in extra-time for Ramires. "Over the last two days we have seen...
