Mascherano buoyed by Messi return

Javier Mascherano has revealed his delight at the impending return of Lionel Messi for Barcelona.

The four-time Ballon d'Or winner is in the latter stages of his recovery from a hamstring injury - which he suffered in the 4-1 win over Real Betis on Nov. 11.

Messi is expected to feature in Barcelona's clash with Elche on Jan. 5 - the club's first game after the international break - and Mascherano cannot wait to line up alongside his compatriot again.

He said: "I spoke to Leo during all his injury. I know that he's very well, and that he has made a fantastic recovery."

In his absence, the Blaugrana have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League but have seen their lead at the top of La Liga eroded, with second-placed Atletico Madrid level with Barca on 46 points.

Messi will find out whether he has been successful in his bid to add to his record haul of Ballon d'Or awards when the winner of the prize is announced on Jan. 13, with the 26-year-old on a three-man shortlist alongside Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery.

Do You Know Who Said, "Joe Hart is World's Best Goalkeeper"?

Joe Hart has been hailed as the world's best goalkeeper by Wayne Rooney after a stunning performance kept Manchester City's Champions League hopes alive. The Bleacher Report wrote. Rooney said all this after Joe Hart showed a very wonderful play when his team met Dortmund yesterday. According to Bleacher Report , the Manchester United striker was quick to praise City 's No 1 - also his England team-mate - after Hart produced a series of world-class saves in a pulsating 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium. Although City also created a number of chances, Hart's performance kept them in the contest before Mario Balotelli snatched a first point in Group D with a contentious last-minute penalty. Hart denied the German champions on eight occasions and Rooney - whose club manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in the crowd - was one of many observers hugely impressed. Hart could do little to prevent Dortmund taking the lead jus...
