Manchester United and Chelsea ground out a dull but competitive 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, with Wayne Rooney playing all 90 minutes.
Rooney has been the subject of speculation all summer, linked with a summer move to Chelsea after the Blues had two offers for him rejected by United.
The reception he received was full backing from United fans; his name cheered loudest when it was announced prior to the game.
Post-match Jose Mourinho was quizzed as to whether he would be submitting another bid, but was downbeat about his chances.
The Chelsea boss said that the reception Rooney received would likely convince him to stay, leaving Chelsea's chances of signing the striker in tatters.
He said: "Manchester United is a special club with special fans. I expect now he expects to stay."
Asked specifically about a bid, Mourinho said: "It depends on his (Rooney's) reactions. We need to know how he is feeling."
Moyes in response said simply: "He's got one thing right. This is a special club."
Don't you think Rooney is staying?
