But he did, and they were, and that summer the then-24-year-old goalkeeper joined Saint-Etienne, rebuffing Manchester City in the progress. This season he played all 38 Ligue 1 matches for Les Verts for a second season in succession, conceding just 32 goals as his side finished a surprising fifth in the standings and qualified for the Europa League. 24. Pepe Reina, Liverpool Only Joe Hart kept more Premier League clean sheets than Pepe Reina in 2012-13. In a season that saw Liverpool finish a disappointing seventh in the English top-flight, the 30-year-old managed to keep things respectable from a defensive standpoint, conceding only 34 goals and stopping 88 per cent of the shots he faced. To finish the season he conceded just a single goal in his last four matches. 23. Mariano Andujar, Catania Only Parma managed

This is the Statement That Sacked Roberto Mancini

Roberto Mancini "Despite everyone’s best efforts, the Club has failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year, with the exception of qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. This, combined with an identified need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the Club, has meant that the decision has been taken to find a new manager for the 2013/14 season and beyond. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “Roberto’s record speaks for itself and he has the respect and gratitude of Sheikh Mansour, myself and the Board for all of his hard work and commitment over the last three and a half years. He has clearly also secured the love and respect of our fans. He has done as he promised and delivered silverware and success, breaking the Club’s 35-year trophy drought and securing the title in 2012. I would like to personally and publicly thank him for his dedication to the progress that he has overseen and for his support and continued friendship.&qu

Alex Ferguson Confirms Rooney's Request to Move. Via b/r

Manchester United will already look different next season without its longtime manager, but there could be even more change if the most recognizable player also leaves town. According to Sky Sports (via  ESPN ),  Wayne Rooney  has asked for a transfer off the club following the season: Sir Alex Ferguson recently finished his final match at Old Trafford after  announcing his retirement  and came away with a 2-1 victory. However, Rooney was unused in the win and was not even available as a substitute. In the previous match against Chelsea, the forward did not come on until the 69th minute.   Rooney has seen his role diminish greatly this season thanks mostly to the addition of striker Robin van Persie from Arsenal. After finishing second in the league with 27 goals a year ago, Rooney only totaled 12 this season. Meanwhile, Van Persie currently leads the English Premier League and should finish on top for the second year in a row. The addition of the Dutch forward and

Story by  Julhas Alam A seamstress buried in the wreckage of a collapsed garment factory building for 17 days was rescued yesterday — a miraculous moment set against a scene of horror, where the death toll shot past 1,000. Reshma Begum, 18, survived, in remarkably good shape, by eating dried food that was in her area and drinking a limited amount of water which was in bottles around her.  She was found on the second floor of the eight-storey Rana Plaza building, near a Muslim prayer room in a gap between a beam and column in the wreckage.  Crews have been focused on recovering bodies for much of the past two weeks.  “I heard voices of the rescue workers for the past several days. I kept hitting the wreckage with sticks and rods just to attract their attention,” she told Somoy TV from her hospital bed.  “No one heard me. It was so bad for me. I never dreamed I’d see the daylight again,” she said.  “There was some dried food around me. I ate the dried food for 15 days. The last
